We might not remember feeling love 23 years ago today. And we do remember witnessing love as an action. We remember the great selfless sacrifices of the fallen heroes, the innocent victims and all who are still suffering and mourn. We continue to ride the waves of grief. We can never forget.
You can act in love and not feel it one bit. This is what we’re called to do. This is our purpose. To find true meaning in life, love is the main ingredient. To be human is to be kind and offer loving acts. The instruction to love one’s enemy like oneself might be the hardest direction to obey. Yet the rewards for yourself, loved ones, community, society and worldwide are moved by this principle. What’s the reason it’s so hard to do? There’s a toxic thought that lurks in all our minds that someone or a group of people aren’t worthy. They don’t deserve love. Maybe that’s based on what they look like, think like, accomplish, or don’t accomplish. And yet not one of us deserves to be loved all the time. If we are blessed to live long enough, we all age. The more time we have on earth the more time we have to make mistakes and wrongdoings. Life on earth isn’t fair. There seems to be no end to the amount of hurt, tragedy, and pain we can experience. Life can be wicked. Love is the antidote. And you don’t need to be a doctor to prescribe love. Love is the remedy. You might be thinking love requires respect and trust and you’re correct. It might also involve other things that are unique for you to get the wholesomeness flowing. We’ve all lived lives that gave us something wicked. Something less than love. Some people suffer from great inequity. This isn’t meant to be a comparison and contrast analysis. This is healing with love. The only way to heal. Yes, this concept declares to meet hate and wickedness directly with love because hate and wickedness are misguided love that went the wrong direction. Love is the correct and only way.
What are some ways we can act in love, with honor and remembrance?
