No two losses are the same. And no two people suffer and grieve the same over the losses. Like ocean waves, grief can have a high or a low tide and mostly unexpected. Yet just as surprising is the strength, power and light that can be found through the toughest of times. Again, there is beauty in the valley. It’s a courageous and brave walk. Mostly, we’re being carried. We are elevated, victorious and triumphant.

Our biology is our biography. For many chronic conditions, there are no cures, only remedies but we don’t address the root cause of the dilemma.

Without airing out too much dirty laundry, you can see we all come with emotional baggage that makes up the majority of our pain. Our default mode is to pacify the trapped emotions that we bury below the surface with some kind of substance or chemical. Food, tobacco, alcohol, other drugs, anything that can be used in an addictive nature like pornography, retail therapy, gambling, you name it!

You can re-create your environment to a new and improved one. By changing your thoughts, your speech, and in turn, your actions, you can take those three realms we previously discussed to a whole new level. A new level filled with endless possibilities for your physical health, mental well-being, and the sky is not the limit because now we know there’s no cut-offs for time and space.

If you’re looking to add high quality years to your life with a healthy lifespan, you’ll have to run towards or with your feelings, not away. It takes vulnerability but that’s a key ingredient for joy, peace and above all, love.

According to Einstein’s Parable of Quantum Insanity, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”[1] If this leaning into emotions hasn’t been your norm, now might be the time to reconsider the overall strategy for healthy outcomes. Whether it’s a slight shift in mood over the past couple of days or weeks, or altered temperament in the course of months, even years of strong personality traits can be changed for a healthy behavior change. Recovery and restoration are possible.
