Today there seems to be no shortage of crushing events. With natural and manmade disasters on the rise, it’s no wonder many people find themselves in a state of chronic despair, even a broken heart. It can feel like a shadow is following you or a cloud is always hanging over your head.
On top of the current events, maybe you’re dealing with a divorce, unemployment, caregiving, death of a loved one or another life transition. Maybe you cannot get trauma out of your visions like war, assault, abuse and neglect. Think about how certain triggers or events can bring up past offenses. Keep in mind, if you have a family history, you may or may not be more prone to mental health setbacks. But you don’t have to relive the crush. It’s possible to crush out the crushed out.
From a young age, you most likely were taught to resist things that don’t feel good. If you haven’t worked through past trauma, you might recreate and repeat the trauma. If this is the case, your energy isn’t flowing to serve you for the best life you can be living. When trauma below the surface, hiding below, most of your energy gets used to keeping it suppressed or hidden.
Early on, you might have been told to ‘stop crying,’ ‘be quiet,’ or even ‘shut up!’ but what really happens is the energy gets locked and stuck in the body. The walls go up. You can feel drained, tired, exhausted, beat up, bruised and battered. Dis-ease sets in and causes disease. Cancers get stored in the body. This can lead to using pain meds to mask the source of energy block or eating too much food or taking in other toxins like lots of caffeine, tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. All in an attempt to hide the toxic emotion. This energy block is at the core of most addictions.
You have the power inside of you to defeat what’s been holding you down. There’s nothing you need to defend. You know the truth inside of you and you sense that revenge or getting someone back isn’t the answer to keep calm or get inner peace. It doesn’t matter how flattened you’ve been. You can rise up once again. Trust that you can collect your puzzle pieces and make a new and better future. And if you keep the faith, it’ll come easier than you think.
Reflect on how these current events have touched your life. Do you still believe? Are you finding ways to act with more courage? It’s possible to be filled with joy. It’s yours for the taking. Find your sparkle. Hold it in your hands. There are second chances. Show up with your brave on. What you do today counts more than any other day.
