There are many art and health specialties that can nourish your body and mind, which are intricately connected. Eating a well-balanced meal pattern and engaging in moving your body most days of the week is a great example. You might even take a long walk out in nature, mindfully practice deep breathing and meditate under an oak tree. Perhaps you find healing in your tears and laughter while sharing stories on the phone with a long-time best friend. But what if you’re longing for more? If you’re enjoying this ride so far, carry on with a smile. If you’re not there just yet (or even are pleading to get off!), buckle up for an unexpected joy ride. Take solace that in those moments of wanting ‘off this ride,’ there is a greater and higher power in control. Life is a quest to find the sweetness throughout and relish in the victories.

We’ve just established there are some known realities. Some constants we can fairly rely on within a reasonable amount. And we’re going about our lives, and we’re met with storms, choppy waves, unwanted wars, even tsunamis. If we don’t have our skills sharpened to take better care of ourselves, we are most likely having a hard time getting back on our feet, rebounding or even moving forward.

Few people are fortunate enough to have been raised in a loving family without health inequities, so the minority are well-armed in ways to nourish their bodies and minds. Most of us are not. Most of us share similar trials and tribulations. We don’t know how-to treat ourselves or somehow, we’ve lost our way. It doesn’t matter what path you’re on right now or how many forks in the road (pun-intended) that were missteps. Together, we can learn how-to fuel the body, mind, soul, and spirit – to prevent the onset of disease and reverse crippling pestilence like addiction, diabetes, and have healthy hearts. This is the playbook for every chronic condition, even despair.
